A strange incident took place at Terminal-3 of Delhi Airport at around 1:30 pm on Saturday. An Air India pilot, upset with an altercation with the ground staff, locked himself in the cockpit. The passengers of the flight departing from New Delhi to Udaipur had to wait in the aerobridge as the gate was not opened for a long time. Later, the passengers were sent to Udaipur by another plane.
Earlier on Saturday, the operations of Terminal-1 of Delhi Airport were started keeping in mind the convenience of the passengers, but the passengers in the Air India flight from Terminal-3 faced inconvenience. The passengers had to face a lot of trouble while boarding the flight number AI-469. The reason for this was that before the passengers boarded the flight, there was an altercation between the pilot and the ground staff. Angered by this, the pilot locked himself in the cockpit and refused to fly the plane. Meanwhile, the passengers had reached the aerobridge. But they had to wait in a narrow space as the gate of the plane was not opening.
The passengers vented their anger on social media. They alleged that when the flight was not to be operated, then what was the need to open the aerobridge for boarding. They felt trapped in this small corridor. No information was given as to why the gate of the plane was not being opened. Not only this, there was no announcement of going to Udaipur by another flight. The passengers also created a ruckus at the airport.
On the other hand, Air India has apologized for the inconvenience caused to the passengers. It has said that another plane will depart with the passengers. After complaints were made on social media handles, Air India has responded on its official X handle. It has said that the delay in the operational time of the plane has happened due to unavoidable reasons.
